Obhéa Editions in a few lines

Founded in 2019, Obhéa Editions publishes role-playing games and narrative board games (“Multi-World, Multi-Imaginary”). Its mission: to create immersive experiences that carry players into rich worlds, and to make role-playing a playful bridge to the imagination of novels, comics, series and films. Its first project, IMPERIUM5, is a science-fiction role-playing game; it also publishes Wallow Wide, an American crime series to play, Grecka, the RPG, based on Lysiah Maro’s novels, and Story Family Fantasy, a fantasy adventure to play as a family.

The games

IMPERIUM5

Humanity, deprived of the memory of pre-cataclysmic times, lives in a dark, hyper-technological, futuristic world. The Quantum Crash, a gravitational wave of quanta, erased the knowledge of demiurgic technologies from the memory of the living and isolated the solar system. For centuries the population has lived surrounded by ancient technology it no longer understands, which has become mere scenery. The Imperiums, Mû and many occult and mystical groups seek to uncover its secrets to gain the upper hand over the others; every discovery turns the hands of the doomsday clocks.

IMPERIUM5 approaches science fiction as a planetary closed-door drama, with the emphasis on Super-Humanity and the control of divine technologies. Dark and decadent, it borrows the codes of SF and stays close to those of cyberpunk; rediscovering ancient technology, through expeditions into mythical abandoned cities, plays a central role, in a pulp, “Indiana Jones” spirit. Players take on characters who are aware of the dissonance of the world and take a full part in its geopolitics.

  • Period: futuristic, human-centred, divine technology
  • You play: individuals set apart who keep memories of their former lives and question the new civilisation of Mû: why, how, by whom, and who am I really?
  • Goal: uncover the secrets of the world and of the characters; a dark, dramatic world, pulp characters
  • For whom: roleplayers and GMs who love SF
  • Session length: 3.5 to 6.5 hours
  • Players: 3 to 5
  • References: Dan Simmons, Philip K. Dick, Blade Runner, The Incal, Minority Report, Cloud Atlas, The Matrix, Johnny Mnemonic

Wallow Wide

Welcome to Wallow Wide, a quiet little town and the seat of Fairmont County, Wyoming. The game offers the feel of an American crime series with a touch of western, in the heart of the Great Plains, in the fictional Fairmont County in north-western Wyoming: vast wild plains bordered by the foothills of Yellowstone park, herds of cattle and sheep, mustangs, appaloosas and quarter horses. You play a deputy or a consultant of the local sheriff’s office.

The experience is close to watching an episode or a season of an American crime series. Beyond solving a case, the story of the central characters is the main plot: their past, their secrets, their psychological wounds and their everyday problems form the narrative glue of each season, episode after episode.

  • Period: contemporary, 2019
  • You play: sheriff’s deputies: a former journalist, a big-city cop, a ranger, tribal police, a private investigator…
  • Goal: investigation game, dramatic
  • For whom: roleplayers and GMs who love American crime series
  • Session length: 2.5 to 4 hours
  • Players: 3 to 5 (4 in campaign mode)
  • References: Longmire, Banshee, Yellowstone, Hawaii Five-0

Grecka, le JdR

Reading the first volumes of Lysiah Maro’s Grecka, we felt that this positive, fast-paced story would be a solid foundation for a planet-opera role-playing game, and a way to bring readers to role-playing: our famous playful bridge. Grecka, the RPG is an introductory game anyone can pick up: chapter after chapter, you live adventures while absorbing the game mechanics and making the setting your own. The game is written in collaboration with Lysiah Maro.

After centuries of struggle and denial in the face of a repeatedly announced and proven environmental catastrophe, humanity fails to restore the balance of Earth’s atmosphere. In the middle of the 28th century, an international coalition launches three arks towards a habitable planet at the edge of the galaxy: Grecka, our last chance. More than 1,200 years after the Agreckissage, humans are repeating the same mistakes, but this time the planet will not stand for it. The game is set more than 30 years after the end of the novel cycle and reveals the profound geopolitical changes.

  • Novel cycle: Grecka, by Lysiah Maro (3 books)
  • Period: futuristic, human-centred, advanced but still human technology
  • You play: agents of Bureau 9, the secret arm of the Greckal Assembly: intelligence, espionage, sabotage, assassination… experts operating in the five independent states
  • Goal: espionage and mission game, then sandbox
  • For whom: beginners, any GM; you need to enjoy SF
  • Session length: 2.5 to 4 hours
  • Players: 3 to 5
