Accessibility

Obhéa Editions wants its website to be usable by as many people as possible: role-playing is a shared activity, and those who prepare, discover or play it should not be stopped by a digital obstacle. This page describes where we stand.

Goal and compliance status

We aim for level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, the standard on which the French RGAA is based. The website has not yet been audited for accessibility by an external body: its compliance status is therefore not officially assessed. We check it ourselves on an ongoing basis and fix what we find.

What is in place

  • Keyboard navigation: every function (menu, carousels, forms, cookie panel, image viewer) can be operated from the keyboard, with a focus that is always visible; a “Skip to content” link lets you bypass the header.
  • Structure: one main heading per page, hierarchical subheadings, landmarks (header, navigation, content, footer) and a breadcrumb.
  • Contrast and legibility: text colours checked against each background; text can be enlarged without loss of content; reading line length is limited.
  • Images: alternative text is mandatory for each image added to the website; decorative images are ignored by screen readers.
  • Motion: no automatic carousel scrolling; animations respect your system’s “reduce motion” setting.
  • Forms: labelled fields, explicit error messages, no consent box ticked in advance.
  • Language: each page declares its language (French or English), which helps screen readers pronounce it correctly.
  • Videos: videos never start on their own and come with a text alternative when they need one.

Known limitations

  • Downloadable documents: some PDF files (booklets, game aids, character sheets) are laid out for printing and may not be fully accessible to screen readers.
  • Third-party content: YouTube videos and the networks’ or partners’ pages the website links to follow their own rules; captions depend on the video.
  • Illustrations: the maps and highly detailed visuals of some worlds can only be partially summarised in their alternative text.
  • Shop: the basket and the checkout have been checked with automatic tools at some steps only; complete journeys using the keyboard and a screen reader have not yet been verified. The SumUp and PayPal payment pages follow their own rules.
  • Contrast: the contrast of text embedded in some illustrations and of the opening banner text placed over images has not been measured.

Technologies used

HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WAI-ARIA. The website has been checked with a keyboard and automated tools (axe-core, accessibility tree) on recent browsers; it has not yet been tried with a real screen reader.
